£4m in 100 days

It is important that in an emergency all ̽»¨ÊÓƵers stand together to support our communities and the grass-roots charities that do so much to help the most vulnerable in our society.

It has now been 100 days since the UK went into lockdown. ̽»¨ÊÓƵ itself has become a very different place– no longer the hub of activity we are used to. But lockdown does not mean that ̽»¨ÊÓƵ has shut down, in fact, it has been quite the opposite.

Over the last 100 days we’ve committed over £4m to fuel ̽»¨ÊÓƵ’s community response to COVID. And the grassroots sector has risen to the challenge with speed, agility and responsiveness. It has been a humbling experience to stand alongside them during this time. ̽»¨ÊÓƵers have also shown their incredible generosity by supporting these charities to ensure that this vital work can continue by donating to ̽»¨ÊÓƵ’s (LCF) COVID response work.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our donors and partners, for their commitment towards this important work taking place across the capital. Thank you also to LCF’s individual donors – new and longstanding friends – who have collaborated to support our COVID efforts. And to the collaborating funders on the ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Community Response portal where LCF is directing its COVID funds. At the times the scale of need has been overwhelming but the sharing the effort has been rewarding.

As Chair of ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Funders, I have been inspired by the partnership between so many funders in the Capital coming together behind the ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Community Response to Covid-19. ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Community Foundation has been a significant contributor to this joint effort and their commitment to serving the capital’s grassroots has shone through during the crisis. The appetite of the LCF team to collaborate and do what’s right for ̽»¨ÊÓƵ’s communities and their donors is vital to the crisis response for the charitable sector.

The efforts of LCF’s amazing team has meant we have been able to:

  • Support over 330,000 ̽»¨ÊÓƵers 
  • Invest in over £1.3 million to help ensure people have food and other emergency supplies
  • Direct nearly 20% of our funding to charities addressing domestic abuse and domestic violence
  • Direct 30% of COVID funds to support BAME-led organisations
  • Support BAME communities with 55% of COVID funds
  • Notify organisations within 5.1 days of us receiving their application whether their application was successful
